Sue's Biography

"The harder I work, the luckier I get."

Sue was born and raised in Albert Lea, Minnesota, adopted into a wonderful family at the age of three, graduated from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University, Mankato)  in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and an Area of Concentration in French and Spanish. While attending MSU, she was a charter member of Mankato's branch of Alpha Chi Omega.

In 1966 she married her high school sweetheart, Dan, and had two sons, Tim and Bob. When the children were still toddlers, her husband was ordered to Pleiku, Vietnam. When Dan returned, he became an Albert Lea Police Officer and Sue was fortunate to be able to teach at the same school that Tim and Bob were attending. With the purchase of their first home, came the need for a puppy.

In 1979, Sue moved to Casa Grande, Arizona with Dan and their two boys. She became interested in real estate sales; and in 1985, Sue became the broker/owner of Realty World--Casa Grande Valley, which is now Jahns Realty. For 16 years, real estate was her life.

Then, in 1994, Sue wanted a change and enrolled at Arizona State University in the Master's Degree program for Teaching English as a Second Language. To gain background experience, she taught ESL in Taiwan and Vietnam, independently exploring China via the train from Hong Kong to Beijing. By the way, youth hostelling was a great experience for Sue; and flying to Asia the night before her 50th birthday was quite exciting.
